The Edge Gallery and Urban Art Centre

Final group ad campaign for my communications diploma— I was the "creative director." (I like putting things in quotes, apparently.)

We really only had a big enough budget for printing, so we kept our executions to anything that could be printed economically and focused on making the content shine. We also called our campaign "Be Small. Sing Loud." to push the idea that getting noticed doesn't always have to involve massive amounts of money— just a bit of thinking. The "Staple Story"' is my favourite: we turned what could have been a gimmicky stretch— stapling a piece of paper shut— into a funny execution.

(The client agreed.)

"After spending time with each package, I still come back to the first presenting group... one of the key elements is that this group really seems to have picked up the language, vibe and the life that is currently flowing through The Edge. Simplicity, engagement, language, and genuine fun is felt throughout this package. There were times throughout where I commented to myself, "Did I write this?" So, I suppose, I became biased when I felt so absolutely understood and appreciated." -Serena Postel, Director, The Edge Gallery and Urban Art Centre

Biovator

Biovator was one of my favourite clients to work with, both because of the relationship and because of the product. (A composter that composts entire pigs in days? Awesome.)

I came up with the tagline Bring Waste Back to Life; before that it was "The #1 Name for In-Vessel Composting." I also enjoy my informative brochure copy; I almost considered buying a Biovator after reading it.

Tripat Sandhu

Sell sheets are usually boring— especially the ones passed around at networking luncheons. This one tried to go beyond the typically drab local car sales advertising while still getting across that Tripat's a good guy. (And he really is.)

Onalee Ames Film Studio

This client needed promo material quickly, and the only original photography we had to work with were some old promo shots of former students. So instead of just throwing a utilitarian headline— "REGISTER FOR FALL CLASSES!" or "HAVE SOME FUN! YOU SHOULD ACT!— above some kids looking happy, we created a little concept that turned out to be kind of cute.

Multimedia Risk

This ad's goal was to make "quality risk management solutions" entertaining. I also wrote the tagline Entertain the Unexpected.
